Getting Started: Buying A Helmet

Your helmet is the most important piece of armour you will buy, it protects your head, keeps you safe and is the most visible piece, its what others will see and what you will see out of. There are plenty of choices some more popular that others, all with different positives and negatives. So lets talk through what options we’ve got. For Bohurt you want your helmet to be 3mm thick on the top and 2.5mm at the rest of the helmet, for profighting or duels you can use 2.5mm on the top.

Most quality Bohurt armour is made by Ukrainian or Polish armourers. If you look at other options, remember; if its cheap there is a reason. The steel is often of a poorer quality and not safe for Bohurt. Always consult with your team mates before buying new armour to make sure it is suitable for Borhurt.

The Wolfrib

The wolfrib is one of the most popular helmets amongst Bohurt fighters, it has a domed cap, comes with bars across the face (including hidden vertical bars for safety), its bars allow for greater visibility and breathing. You have the choice of chainmail or fabric aventail giving you some choice in colours and style.

The Nasal

The Nasal is a bascinet helmet with a long nose piece, large eye holes and a compulsor1y chainmail aventail. It provides excellent visibility and breathing capabilities allowing fighters to see exactly where their opponents are. The downside of those big eye holes and things can get caught in there, the chainmail can add extra weight, a titanium chainmail aventail can alleviate this though.

The Alexander Cross (ROA - Romance of Alexander)

Characterised by the brass cross across the front of the face the ROA provides excellent protection, breathing holes and good visibility. Worn by our mascot and fighters alike. This helmet will have you stand out on the field, a storng field of view without sacrificing safety.

The English Cross

This helmet features chainmail across the face and the aventail, a cross at the top of the helmet connecting the chainmail and the helmet. It features safety bars behind the chainmail. It offers good visibility and airflow. An excellent contender and the current helmet of our Chapter Master!
