Billy Bash 2025
All the fighters from BAC, Somerset Barons, Draig and St Davids Own.
There are a number of wonderful moments when organising a Bohurt event, but the best is when it’s done, when you can look around and say “Yeah, that was worth all the effort”.
Billy Bash 2025 came about when one of our fighters got chatting to a friend and before you know it, we were running our first event! Set in the King William IV pub in Warmley we were blessed with a massive garden, good weather and a crowd of people. We had fighters from Bristol Armoured Combat (BAC), The Somerset Barons, Draig and St. David's Own. All kept organised with my piece of paper and trusty ball point pen!
The afternoon started with a sword & buckler tournament, blessed (or cursed) with 9 fighters they were split into two groups, the winners and runners up went through to the semis and onto the finals. The Sword & Buckler duels were often quick, with fighters required to score five points by hitting their opponent with their sword before the opponent. We ran both a mixed 9 fighters group and a women's group. All the fighters put their all into it, but in the end there can only be one winner;
Sword & Buckler
Gold - Dora (Hellions)
Silver - Mish (BAC)
Bronze - Callum (Draig).

Between bursts of Sword & Buckler duels we had the Bohurt, competing with three on each side and a fourth as a sub, the Bohurt, as ever was a crowd favourite, the teams clashed ferociously, with some superb fighting, amazing throws and some wicked takedowns. The scores on the doors were as followed;
BAC v Draig - Draig won both rounds three to one.
Somerset Barons v St. David's Own - both rounds to Somerset Barons three to one and two nil.
Draig v St. Davids Own - three to one to Draig on both rounds.
BAC v Somerset Barons - three to one to BAC on both rounds.
BAC v St. Davids Own - one nil to BAC on the first round, three nil on the second.
Draig v Somerset Barons - one nil to the Somerset Barons on the first round, three one to Draig on the second and one nil to Draig on the third.
The final results were
Gold - Draig
Silver - BAC
Bronze - Somerset Barons
Following the finals of the sword & buckler, nine brave fighters entered the list for a meant grinder, an all v all. Fighters went down and down until only three fighters remained, as two other fighters, including BACs Piotr, fought each other, our eventual winner from Wales, Callum, came along and pulled them both over, taking the crown!

Finally we finished with profights, most fighters were tired and at the end of their limit at this point and yet still stepped forward to go one on one against each other. We had four fights in total;
Greg (Somerset Barons) v Willum (BAC) - polearms duels - Greg win.
Zach (Draig) v Piotr (BAC) - profight - Piotr win.
Dora (throw a dart at a map and she probably trains there) v Callum (Draig) - profight - Dora win.
Piotr (BAC) v Willum (BAC) - profight - Willum win.
Following all the fighting, medals and prizes were awarded, our aforementioned received their prizes and medals, with special Merstag plaques for the counters and Marshall. We were also fortunate enough to award a MVP & a will to win. Awarding a plaque and a bottle of finest elderflower meed, the MVP to Zack (Wales) and our will to win to Daisy (Somerset Barons).
As the day drew to a close and all the hard work of the marshall, the counters, the fighters, the staff at the King William IV had all paid off. It was a great feeling to hear such positive feedback from the fighters there, itmade all the effort well worth it. As I drank a very well earned beer, glad to have reached the end, for all the hard work to have paid off and for the day to have been a success, I couldn’t help but think… Billy Bash 2026.
We’ll see you next year.
